As Ukraine continues to face the realities of the full-scale Russian invasion and the great challenges of reconstruction, young people across Europe have come together to shape a vision for a sustainable and forward-looking rebuilding process. The Rebuild Ukraine Ambassadors—a group of dedicated young Ukrainians and their European peers have spent six months researching, consulting experts, and working together to develop strategic proposals for Ukraine’s future. Their efforts have now culminated in the publication of their vision paper, “A Sustainable Tomorrow: Youth Visions for Rebuilding Ukraine.”

About the Initiative

The European Youth Parliament (EYP) launched the Rebuild Ukraine Ambassadors Programme in 2023 with the support of the E.ON Foundation and expanded it in 2024 with support from the German Federal Foreign Office. Last year, 20 young leaders, aged 17 to 27, from Ukraine and across Europe were selected as Rebuild Ukraine Ambassadors to take part in this powerful initiative. The programme was facilitated by EYP alumnae Kristina Chelmakina and Anastasiia Ianovytska.

• The vision paper provides an analysis and outlook on five critical areas for Ukraine’s sustainable reconstruction:
• Cultural Heritage – Preserving Ukraine’s rich identity and rebuilding cultural infrastructure
• Education – Strengthening educational systems to empower future generations
• Energy – Ensuring sustainable and resilient energy solutions for Ukraine’s recovery
• Cybersecurity – Addressing digital security challenges in a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape
• Urbanisation – Reimagining cities to be more inclusive and sustainable

The paper explores fundamental questions, such as:

• What are the steps towards a sustainable reconstruction of Ukraine?
• What areas of reconstruction must be considered to ensure a comprehensive rebuilding process?
• What progress has been achieved thus far, and in what ways can the European Union further support these efforts?
• What are the main challenges facing sustainable reconstruction, and what innovative solutions can help overcome them?
• What does a sustainable future for Ukraine look like?

A Call for Solidarity & Action

We are very proud to present this vision paper and the work of our Rebuild Ukraine Ambassadors. This project stands as a testament to youth leadership, European solidarity, and the shared responsibility of ensuring Ukraine’s sustainable reconstruction.
Our Ambassadors will spend this year presenting their paper’s findings to various stakeholders, including politicians, NGOs, and other civil society actors. We will be sharing results from their outreach efforts, so stay tuned!
