Alumni United: Driving European Climate Action

Alumni United creates a space where our alumni can stay connected, grow, and support the next generation of EYPers, while also contributing to a just transition and empowering positive change that extends beyond the EYP.

About Alumni United

Launched in July 2025, Alumni United is a three-year initiative funded by the E.ON Foundation, aimed at unlocking the potential of the EYP’s alumni community. The project focuses on leadership, professional development, and building connections within the alumni network.

EYP alumni are individuals who have participated in EYP events but are no longer active members.

Many alumni are now professionals but remain connected to EYP and wish to stay involved. Without structured support, however, they find it difficult to maintain engagement. Alumni United aims to address this by creating accessible spaces for continued involvement. It brings together alumni with experience in democratic engagement and European cooperation, particularly those now working in civil society, politics, industry, and science, with a special focus on fostering climate action.

The project creates opportunities for alumni from diverse backgrounds to connect and collaborate through topical discussions, professional communities, and reunions. Hearing from experienced and successful alumni contributes to the network’s development and provides opportunities for young people to engage with expertise. These activities also act as a platform for sustainable, long-term engagement with the EYP for those alumni who still want to be an active part of the community.

EYP Alumni in Numbers

The EYP alumni network spans across Europe and beyond, with a broad and diverse community. Here are some key figures that illustrate the reach and engagement of our alumni:

  • Hailing from 40 countries

  • Over 200,000 alumni worldwide

  • Alumni on every continent!

  • Over 11,000 alumni in our database

  • Over 50 alumni events organised since 2017

  • Members of Parliament in at least 7 countries

  • Candidates for the European Parliament in at least 5 countries in 2024

  • 5% of alumni surveyed have run for public office

Unlocking New Opportunities with Alumni United

Alumni United creates valuable opportunities for both alumni and the wider EYP community.

Reconnection, Community, and Networking

Expertise, Leadership, and Development For alumni, the project provides many opportunities to reconnect with EYP friends, get professional support from the network, and take part in activities with larger community goals. The level of engagement is up to the individual, but the ultimate goal is the EYP Alumni network becoming a community that embraces the ‘EYP spirit’!

  • Professional Communities: Groups connecting EYP Alumni in similar professional fields and in order to offer networking and knowledge sharing opportunities.

  • Regional Communities: Communities for EYP Alumni who are living in the same cities and regions across the world, with the goal of organising social events, networking, and reunions

  • Fundraising & Networking Opportunities: Engage in long-term fundraising efforts (e.g., Circle of Friends) and ad-hoc campaigns (e.g., crowdfunding).

  • Alumni Reunions & Happy Hours: Local social events across Europe, providing low-barrier entry points for alumni to reconnect.

Expertise, Leadership, and Development

For the EYP network, alumni engagement recognises those who remain dedicated to empowering young people. By tapping into the professional networks and insights of alumni, the EYP can enhance its activities and further develop, especially in areas like European integration and climate action. Alumni also provide an invaluable source of knowledge and experience, passing down lessons from the organisation’s history to shape its future.

  • Mentorship Programme:

Alumni are paired with current EYP members to provide professional guidance, advice, and mentoring.

  • Expert Engagement:

Alumni provide professional insights, offering their expertise across various domains at EYP sessions.

  • Alumni Talks:

Alumni discuss key topics for the active network and alumni community, including industry insights, contemporary issues, and institutional knowledge.
