The Rebuild Ukraine Lab 2024 concluded with Youth-Driven Solutions for Ukraine’s Reconstruction
The Rebuild Ukraine Ambassadors gathered in Berlin to develop ideas across five key areas for the sustainable reconstruction of Ukraine.
From July 20 to 28, in Thessaloniki, around 250 young people from 37 countries gathered and 15 current European topics were discussed, resulting in youth-led policy proposals.
Since 1988, the EYP has been a leading platform for youth-led civic education across Europe. Our sessions have touched 32 countries and 73 cities, involving over 200,000 young people. The “Harbour of Innovation” was a special way to mark the milestone of 100 International Sessions.
From July 20 to 28, in sunny Greece, around 250 young people from 37 countries gathered and 15 current European topics were discussed, resulting in youth-led policy proposals. Participants were addressed by speakers such as Vice-President of the European Commission on Democracy, Dubravka Šuica, and they were aided by an array of experts throughout the committee work.
As a result, young people discussed an impressive and diverse set of topics such as Agriculture, EU Budgets, Culture, Economic Affairs, Employment, Environment, Women’s Rights, Energy, Legal Affairs (Deepfakes and Electoral Policies), Civil Liberties, Regional Development, and Security. The resolutions crafted by the delegates following their discussions can be downloaded from the sidebar.
Outside of working on proposals, the 100th International Session in Thessaloniki hosted a Eurovillage and a Euroconcert, both cultural activities displaying either cuisine, music, or art from all the various cultures present at the event. Additionally, in Thessaloniki the EYP organised an Anniversary Gala celebrating the 30th anniversary of EYP Greece, and an Alumni Reunion where EYP Alumni, old and new, from many different decades, gathered to reflect and remember the organisation’s 37 year journey.
A special thanks to the leadership team of the International Session: William Eddershaw (IE) as President, Nikita Salukvadze (GE) as Editor, and Elena Petsa (GR) and Stefanos Kerkoulas (GR) as Head Organisers. Their dedication and hard work madethis milestone event possible!
The Thessaloniki session, funded by Erasmus+ and supported by partners like Sparkasse and ESBG, the US mission to the EU, Insurance Europe, Hertie Stiftung, E.ON Stiftung, and Stiftung Mercator, continues this legacy.
Lastly, to mark the 100th edition of our network’s flagship event, the session’s Media Team and the EYP’s Communications Team have worked on several special projects. We invite you to check out the Counting Up Video, the Session Documentary Trailer, the Welcome and Farewell Videos, among dozens of other projects, published and upcoming, that you can find over at @eypnetwork.
