Dialogue to Change: A Youth Vision for Fundamental Rights

We are excited to announce the launch of From Dialogue to Change: A Youth Vision for Fundamental Rights, a new publication developed as part of the FOCUS project.

At a time when fundamental rights across Europe are increasingly questioned, constrained and unevenly protected, the publication explores how the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights can move beyond abstract principles and become a meaningful framework for people’s everyday lives.

The Vision Paper is the outcome of the YouthRights Vision Lab, which brought together ten young people from across Europe for an intensive process of dialogue, reflection and collaboration. Facilitated by Sofie de Jong, the Vision Lab created a space for participants to critically engage with the Charter, share lived experiences, and examine the relevance of fundamental rights in different national and social contexts.

The publication identifies five key areas in which fundamental rights are currently under particular pressure: climate, cultural heritage, technology, non-discrimination, and democracy and media. Each chapter combines young people’s perspectives with concrete, policy-oriented proposals, offering practical insights both for those active in youth organisations and for decision-makers seeking grounded, forward-looking input.

By centring youth voices and lived realities, From Dialogue to Change demonstrates the value of meaningful youth participation in shaping Europe’s fundamental rights agenda.

Read the full Vision Paper and explore how young people’s perspectives can help shape the future of fundamental rights in Europe.
