Youth for Resilient Cities and Urban Environments

Y-RESCUE is a project that empowers young people to lead transformative climate action in urban areas increasingly threatened by environmental challenges.

About Y-RESCUE

Launched in 2025, the project will mobilise 300 young participants (aged 18–30) and youth organisations across several European partner countries to co-create local resilience solutions and strengthen youth entrepreneurship in the climate field. More specifically, throughout Y-RESCUE partners and young participants together will attend workshops, identify challenges, and come up with innovative solutions. By making the most of peer learning, mentorship, and shared resources, the project will build its participants’ skills in leadership and project management, while ensuring valuable action is carried out to fight environmental challenges.

The primary topics of the project include:

  • Promoting active citizenship, young people’s sense of initiative and youth entrepreneurship including social entrepreneurship

  • Environment and fight against climate change

  • Increasing quality, innovation and recognition of youth work

Activities within the project:

  • Research and Dialogue

At the beginning of Y-RESCUE, partners will gather existing research and best practices on youth engagement in urban climate resilience, while also gathering new insights directly from young people and local stakeholders. This includes surveys, interviews and workshops that give youth and experts an opportunity to jointly identify the most pressing urban climate challenges faced in their communities.

  • Tools and Training

Building on the previous activity, the project will develop educational resources such as toolkits, guides, and training programmes focused on urban climate resilience and youth-led action. These resources will be made practical and accessible, helping young people and youth organisations learn how to become better at managing projects and engaging stakeholders.

  • Capacity Building and Peer Learning

Y-RESCUE will host a series of training sessions and peer-learning events, bringing together young people from different countries and backgrounds. These activities will focus on enhancing leadership and advocacy skills, while also creating space for youth organisations to exchange experiences and learn from each other.

  • Youth-led Climate Action and Results

Supported through mentoring and training, youth teams will design and carry out pilot actions in their communities, allowing participants to apply their skills in real-life settings and create practical examples of youth-led urban resilience. The results will be shared through communication materials, publications, at conferences and public forums to further advocate for youth-driven climate action at local and European levels.

The project is funded through Erasmus+ Programme’s grant support and brings together several partners: Station (@stationcph), 100% for the ChildrenYouth and Environment Europe (@yeenetwork), and European Youth Parliament (@eyp_network).
