Power Shifts Project

The project Power Shifts – Reflecting Europe’s Energy has been implemented from 2018 to 2021 by the European Youth Parliament with the support of the E.ON Stiftung.

Power Shifts – Reflecting Europe’s Energy

This project has encouraged young people from across Europe to explore and discuss European energy policy. By taking part in the project activities, participants learned ways of engaging and fostering the debate on energy in their communities, locally and on the European level. The project has been implemented by the European Youth Parliament (EYP) and the Schwarzkopf Foundation in cooperation with the E.ON Stiftung (former Innogy Stiftung für Energie und Gesellschaft).

Events and Activities

The Power Shifts Project enabled a significant number of young people from across Europe to gain valuable insights and competences in energy-related topics. This was done through:

  • EYP Sessions: Energy-related topics were presented as committee topics; thus, participants got a chance to debate them within the classic EYP methodology during regional, national, and International Sessions.
  • The Power Shifts Fund: To bolster the development and accessibility of energy-related topics across our network we provided funding to regional and national EYP events that were bringing energy discussions forward.
  • Power Labs: The outcomes of our energy-related discussions all over Europe were summarised during annual Power Labs. The product was later presented in “Young Energy Opinion” papers that were shared with the decision-makers and stakeholders.
  • Innovation Labs: In the EYP, we welcome innovative formats that help us learn new ways we can empower young Europe. These labs were focused on coming up with and introducing new ideas on how the EYP can achieve its goals through its methodology.
