The Baltic Forum of the European Youth Parliament (EYP) brought together 127 young participants from 20 different countries in Narva, Estonia for four days of exciting debates between 27th and 30th of November. The third biggest city of Estonia, right next to the Russian border proved to be the perfect location for an EYP event. The Baltic Forum was unique in bringing together young people from both “native” (Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian) and”non-native” (Russian) speakers from across the different communities in the three Baltic States, giving them an opportunity to explore Europe’s diversity.
The youngsters developed concrete solutions to some of Europe’s most pressing issues like the refugee crisis, youth unemployment and media neutrality. The final proposals of the participants can now be read in the resolution booklet, which you can download here.
The resolutions were officially handed over to Estonian Minister for Foreign Affairs Marina Kaljurand on 22nd of January 2016, during a meeting at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Tallinn.
The project was organised by Tegusad Eesti Noored (TEN – EYP Estonia) as the National Committee of the EYP in Estonia and the Schwarzkopf Foundation Berlin as EYP’s international umbrella organisation, in cooperation with EYP Latvia and EYP Lithuania. The project was supported by the German Federal Foreign Office.
The German Ambassador in Estonia, Christoph Eichhorn discussed current political European and global issues with the participants and Marina Kaljurand, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Estonia was a patron of the event and addressed participants via a video message.
