#Ensemble is back in 2021 !

After a successful first edition, EYP is showcasing once more a new format of cultural exchange – a bilingual project for young people from France and Germany, in collaboration with the Franco-German Youth Office (OFAJ-DFJW). One of the highlights is a 3-day conference taking place from the 22nd to the 24th of October 2021. The event will gather around 60 young Europeans from Germany and France under the topic of The Future of Europe and democratic participation of youth in the political process“.

What is the #Ensemble 2.0: Franco-German Youth Exchange?

The initiative builds upon the German and French EU Council Presidency, in 2020 and 2022 respectively as well as the federal and presidential elections taking place in Germany and France. The familiarisation of France and Germany in a cooperative context was a turning point in European history and part of the foundation of the concept of the peaceful Europe that we know today. In the spirit of the Conference on the Future of Europe, we, therefore, want to bring the format one step further and offer a bilingual exchange for young people speaking French and German.

Next to the flagship conference in October, a series of round tables will enable the exchange of ideas and debates on key topics around democratic participation and future perspectives of Franco-German youth for Europe.

The project aims to foster intercultural exchange and mutual understanding, and a key factor of this is languages. The #Ensemble: Franco-German Youth Exchange will thus take place in French and German. This means that all documents will be available in both languages. The around 6 committees will have one main language each (either French or German), but the main elements of the session which gather all participants, such as the General Assembly, will be translated and interpreted in both languages simultaneously.
