Involving locals, putting sustainability into practice and giving ownership to all participants were the goals that young volunteers who organised the EYP International Forum in Mechelen 2018 had set for the session. The event that happened between 9-14 September 2018 in Belgium was a great success...

The city of Milano will host the EYP International Session in 2020. We have asked the amazing team of young volunteers who will organise the event why they want to spend the next two years preparing the session. Here are some insights they have shared with us.

The immensely growing EYP network needs to be supported with knowledge, resources and fruitful exchange of ideas to ensure the sustainability of its activities for a long way forward. The EYP International Office is striving to support the network through capacity building events, also in the Eastern Partnership countries.

In 2018, energy related topics will be debated in seven EYP countries with the support of the recently introduced Power Shifts Fund. We are happy to announce the results of the first application round!

What is the future of renewable energy in Europe? How to make health services more accessible to citizens? These questions are among the topics that young people will debate during the EYP International Session in Rotterdam, starting on the 13th of October. Engaging with current topics and entering into a dialogue with decision makers lies at the heart of the EYP experience. Participants convene in international working groups and discuss their topics with the aim of proposing fresh perspectives and offering solutions. Ali Amjad from the United Kingdom and Vicky Formicola from Italy will be chairing two working groups in Rotterdam. We have asked them about their motivation and about the role that experts take during committee work. Here is what they shared with us.

The European Youth Parliament empowers young people from across Europe to be open-minded, active citizens. It provides participants with a forum to develop and express their opinions on a wide range of topics. The next International Session of the EYP will take place in Rotterdam between the 13th and 21st of October 2018, under the theme ‘Discovering Global Europe’. We have asked Sophie Scannell, the president of the session, about her motivation to volunteer her time to this event. Here is what Sophie shared with us.

The first ever EYP Mentorship pilot programme was launched in June and is now in full swing. EYP community has welcomed the idea with enthusiasm and applied as both Mentors and Mentees. The first18 tandems from 16 countries have met to begin their joint mentorship adventure. 

"In order to impact real change, we should not ask ourselves who we do things for, but rather who we do things with. It's about getting everyone on board this shared mission. In creating inclusive and cross-sectorial movements. EYP has opened up many doors for me. The initiative that I am currently involved in is a great example in how you bring people with different perspectives and backgrounds together around the same table" - says Noura Berouba, an active EYPer since 2011. We have asked Noura (24) how EYP involvement has impacted her path. Noura was a member of the Board of EYP Sweden (2012–14). Currently, she is also in the EYP’s Governing Body. Furthermore, she has been active in several other programmes and projects. Here is what Noura shared with us.

The International Office is pleased to announce the launch of the second round of the Power Shifts - Reflecting Europe's Energy project in cooperation with innogy Stiftung für Energie und Gesellschaft (innogy foundation). Together with this partner, we have successfully run the Power Shifts project in 2015-2017, organising 3 International Academic Forums and engaging more than 300 EYPers to discuss the future of Europe’s Energy in Poland, Germany and France.

    The European Youth Parliament has had a positive impact on the lives of many young change makers and problem solvers across Europe.
