The EYP Training Academy 2025 has strengthened the quality of Training in the EYP network.

The EYP Training Academy 2025 took place in June, bringing together 20 young participants from across Europe. Guided by a dedicated team of trainers led by Bilge Çilingir from Türkiye, the Training Academy focused on building skills that matter.

The modules guided trainees through five key areas needed for creating impactful training sessions: preparation, content, delivery, learning theories, and follow-up. The format of this capacity building event allowed for open discussions and brainstorming, with the aim of creating educational resources that are impactful and engaging.
A standout moment in the event came on Day 3 with a powerful workshop led by EYP alumna Niamh Webster (UK), Editor with the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights in Brussels. Her session on the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU (CFREU) sparked thoughtful conversations – showing how fundamental rights are more than just legal frameworks, they are also guiding principles that shape our work and values in youth-led civic spaces.

As part of the long-term outlook of the event, each participant will develop a concept paper with their own vision for training in EYP. The concept papers will be presented at a follow-up meeting in August, laying the groundwork for future development of training in the EYP network.

Beyond the sessions, the Academy was full of the moments that define EYP: ideas shared over coffee, feedback exchanged with care, laughter during evening reflections, and the start of lasting connections.

This edition of the Training Academy was part of the FOCUS project, supported by the European Commission, and delivered with amazing partners including Democracy International, Are We Europe, ALDA Europe, and Verfassungsblog.

The event also benefitted by the diversity of its participants, with two participants joining through the Youth Together for Arctic Futures project – an EU-funded initiative led by the WWF Global Arctic Programme, together with the Saami Council, Arctic Mayors’ Forum, Tromsø Kommune, the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists, and the Arctic Youth Network.

To our fantastic trainees, tireless trainers, inspiring guests, and amazing partners: thank you for making this week unforgettable. Here’s to shaping the next generation of EYP trainers – and doing it together!
