It sounds simple, but it works: get young people talking, debating real issues, and stepping into each other’s shoes, and something changes. Our 2025 Member Survey proves it. We surveyed 801 members across 35 European countries (that’s 250% more people than last year), and the results show how EYP genuinely shapes young lives.
The impact on how our members communicate and work together is real:
One member put it perfectly: “I live in a rural area with hardly anyone to socialise with, so public speaking used to terrify me. EYP completely changed that.”
Here’s something that stood out. Only about one in three young Europeans feel they can actually make a difference in politics. Yet 59.4% of EYP members strongly believe they can take real action on political issues. That’s roughly 20 percentage points higher than your average European peer. Even better, 61% of them credit EYP for that confidence.
When it comes to how European institutions work, 71.4% say EYP helped them understand it better. Most also strongly believe in peace, democracy, and the benefit of working across cultures (91.9% and 90.7%, if you want the numbers).
EYP sticks with you. When we asked if it shaped their career choices, 54.2% said yes. Further, 92.3% of respondents became more aware of what’s happening around them, and 25.7% have stepped into leadership roles in organisations making real change happen.
Most members feel genuinely welcome in the network. Yet there are two big constraints holding people back from participating money: money and time. These are the biggest obstacles, especially for younger members and people living further away from major cities.
This finding highlights an important priority: by expanding travel support and developing more inclusive event formats, EYP can reach young people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds who currently face barriers to participation.
