What do you get if you put a birthday cake and 500 volunteers in one room? A beautiful 30th anniversary, of course! From July 28-30th, 2017 both alumni of the European Youth Parliament as well as active volunteers came together to meet each other, learn about the development of the organisation throughout the decates, as well as gather ideas for its future. Especially the topic of alumni work was kicked off with concrete proposals in a workshop held during the two-day event.

Gathering 20 young people from around Europe from the Power Shifts project to offer their perspective on the future of energy in Europe, the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) kicked off with a special workshop “Youth on Energy”, inspired by the European Commission’s proposed package on “Clean Energy for all Europeans”. 10 claims were formulated in 4 topic clusters and sent to the European Commission for their future work.

Terrorism. Peace. Pollution. Stability. As one reads through the cards stuck to the flipchart, it becomes quickly clear how differently we think about the concept of "security". Influenced by our environment, fields of studies and national contexts, we tend to emphasise certain security topics over others. At the same time, everyone has an opinion on security.

During the first weekend of October another Train-the-Trainer event took place, this time for the Belgian Understanding Europe project in Brussels. The project strives to engage students in an open discussion concerning the current European issues and topics and to provide a basic understanding of the European Union.

The EYP Summer Academy is an international training event gathering representatives from all 40 EYP member countries aiming to support their work in their National Committees by providing training modules for their board members. The Summer Academy will take place from 16th -19th September in Wannsee, Berlin. Every EYP National Committee can select two Board Members to participate in this international training event, designed to strengthen the capacities in the network.

In 2016, Germany is chairing the Organisation for Cooperation and Security in Europe, short OSCE. On this occasion, the European Youth Parliament brings you two special editions of International Forums in Vienna and Belgrade. From May 18-24, 2016 EYP Austria will host around 150 participants, not only from Europe, but also from other OSCE Member States such as Kazakhstan, USA and Mongolia. From August 10-16, 2016 the second Forum will be organised by by EYP Serbia and take place in Belgrade.
