End of November the first event supported from the Power Shifts Fund 2018 took place in Denmark. All topics discussed at the Regional Selection Conference of EYP Denmark in Vejle formed around the notion of resilience, which is prominent in the public discourse of the area since Vejle is the third smallest city in the 100 Resilient Cities Network. Around 30 participants from the area and all around the country had the chance to discuss energy related and environmental topics at the Rødkilde gymnasium which generously supported the event. We had a chance to talk to the Head Organisers of the session, Anne Seeneha Henriksen and Christian Fuglsang Pedersen, who shared with us their impressions as well as the reasons they decided to incorporate an energy related session concept.

In 2018, one of the noteworthy milestones for alumni activities was the launch of the first ever EYP mentorship pilot programme. It provides the alumni of the network with a chance to contribute to the personal development of current EYP participants. The aim of this initiative is to bring together young EYPers who are beginning their professional careers (and are, for example, finishing their studies and seeking their first jobs) with EYP alumni who are already experienced and can share their expertise with the next generation. This year, 18 tandems from 16 countries have met to begin this joint mentorship venture. Meet one mentee, Isidora Smigic from Serbia and her mentor, Katharina Okulski from Austria who participated in the first ever EYP mentorship programme.

Power Shifts 2.0 project becomes an integral part of the EYP sessions! Every International Session happening throughout the project phase 2018-2021 will receive funds for the energy-focussed committee to provide more participants with a chance to debate the future of energy, learn more about the topic and gain valuable insights from the experts.

"What I appreciate the most after my EYP adventure is that I was growing up in a setting that inspired me to do more and to achieve more. Every session challenged me, so I grew stronger, more confident and more courageous." - Zosia Wanat (PL) We had an amazing opportunity to get in touch with three EYP alumni who are currently working for different media related agencies and ask them about their current occupation and their time with EYP. Here’s what David Soler Crespo (ES), James Benge (UK) and Zosia Wanat (PL) had to say.

It is a great pleasure to share the news that Mr. Jerzy Buzek, Chair of the European Parliament Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) Committee, former President of the European Parliament (2009-2012) and former Prime Minister of Poland (1997-2001) has expressed his support to "Power Shifts – Reflecting Europe’s Energy" project by granting his patronage. Mr. Jerzy Buzek shared a few words with us about the project and Europe's future:

The immensely growing EYP network needs to be supported with knowledge, resources and fruitful exchange of ideas to ensure the sustainability of its activities for a long way forward. The EYP International Office is striving to support the network through capacity building events, also in the Eastern Partnership countries.
