2nd Baltic Forum of the European Youth Parliament

The second Baltic Forum of the European Youth Parliament (EYP) in Riga, Latvia will bring together 150 young participants from the Baltic states and other European countries. The participants will work together for five days. 

The forum will take place in Riga, Latvia, 15th-20th September 2017. The capital of Latvia is a central, diverse and culturally rich city and thus a great place to bring together Russian-speaking participants, other Baltic and European delegates.

Intercultural Understanding

The project aims to bring together young people from different socioeconomic, cultural and educational backgrounds. It tries to generate sustainable connections as well as strengthening the ties with the Russian speaking youth in the Baltics.

The session focuses on the aspects of inclusion, intercultural understanding and empowerment. The participants will learn how to work in an international team and connect with Russian speaking citizens in the Baltic states. The forum will discuss measures the EU could take in collaboration with Baltic governments to further integrate Russian minorities in the social area. The participants will reflect on the relations between the EU and the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries.  The topics of the session range from Euroscepticism, the state of the rights of LGBTI+ Communities in Europe, fake news and propaganda to the Cyber Security Strategy of the Commission.

Empowerment

Through their participation in the EYP, young Europeans gain valuable skills, knowledge and confidence and become empowered to have an impact in society.

During the session the participants will learn about and discuss the European idea, different belief systems and will develop topic related resolutions. The topics of the session range from Euroscepticism, the relevance of disinformation, fake news and propaganda to the Cyber Security Strategy of the Commission.

  • Federal Foreign OfficeThe session will take place with the kind support of the German Federal Foreign Office. The German ambassador to Latvia Rolf Schütte will represent the German Federal Foreign Office at the session and discuss current political topics with the participants.
