Summer Youth Forum

The first international Summer Youth Forum of EYP Hungary is  

taking place in Győr, 15th-19th June, organised around the

theme of the Danube Region Strategy as one of the priorities of the Hungarian Presidency.



The Danube Region Strategy covers parts of 8 EU countries (Germany, Austria, Hungary, 

Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Romania) and 6 non-EU countries 

(Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Ukraine and Moldova). Countries which

have an active National Committee in the EYP have been invited to participate: 

Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia,

Serbia and Ukraine.

 

The topics of the forum were around the challenges that the region is facing:

-      environmental threats (water pollution, floods, climate change)

-      untapped shipping potential and lack of road and rail  transport connections 

-      insufficient energy connections

-      uneven socio-economic development

-      uncoordinated education, research and innovation systems

-      shortcomings in safety and security.



The President of the session was Mr. Drazen Puklavec (HR). 

 

The forum is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, the 

Municipality of Győr and Győr-Moson-Sopron County.
